Remedies for Tear Stains in Dogs
Dog Tear Stains
You've seen it – that cute little Bichon that looks like a powder puff when he's a puppy, that soon grows up to have dark circles under his eyes that make it look like he hasn't slept in months? These are called “tear stains..” and they are not something to fret about! Tear stains can be hereditary, or caused by a reaction to something that is in your home. Your dog may have an irritation to dust or pollen that causes his eyes to tear, eventually staining the coat under his/her eyes. If you think it's an allergy, do a bit of investigating! If your puppy has tear stains, it may be due to teething and you can bet that in a matter of weeks your pets under eyes will be back to looking fine. Dirty eyes, infections, and parasites are all other options...and in some cases? It's just inevitable!
To prevent tear stains, make sure that your dog doesn't have hair in his eyes. Make sure that you groom regularly, and keep the eye area clean using an all natural solution designed for this problem. You won't need to clean on a daily basis, but once or twice a week it's important to remove any gunk so that your dog has a good chance at avoiding tear stains.
