Dog Ear Infections

Those floppy ears, so adorable yet such a drag! What do we mean? Well, dogs with long ears like the Bernese Mountain dog, or Golden Retrievers, are more prone to ear infections!  Those cute-as-pie ears hoard germs, that eventually cause infections that are painful for both you, and your dog.

You may notice your dog is suffering from an ear infection by the smell coming from your dogs head. Ear infections are stinky! If you notice a smell, and  take a look inside your dogs ear  chances are it's going to be red/brown and inflamed; a sure sign that there's something going on inside, and it's not pretty. Dogs with ear infections will also flap their ears around more than usual; this is one of the first symptoms you'll notice, so make sure to monitor your dogs behavior! Prevention of ear infections is easy; keep your pets ears clean! Whether you do it daily, or weekly, make sure that you offer your dog a healthy treat, and get him/her to sit still while you go in there with a children's q-tip, or damp cloth. Keeping your dogs ears clean is the surefire way to avoid infections!
